Progress report

I've been waiting to see whether Ron was going to add another post, but as he's busy, I thought I'd add an update from an email he sent yesterday:

'Started the engine today (very, very briefly) as there was no water in the reserve tank and the battery monitor was reading dead flat. However it started first turn of the key so I guess the battery monitor for the engine battery is shot. Also cleaned out the seawater filter - first time since Croatia I think. It was one third full of seagrass so just as well. Only took about half an hour to get the securing screw to locate so I could close it down again.

Got the bimini rigged y'day and the main solar panel rigged today with a proper new plug and deck socket and it's working ok but can' get anything out of the flexi panel. Noticed the wiring looked dodgy where it comes out of the panel so stripped the epoxy putty out of the wiring box and tested the actual terminals on the panel but nothing coming out so we've lost some of our charging capacity though not a major part.

Got a trestle on hire tomorrow and next day so will start on the polishing then its the a/f to rub down and re-do then there's just the tank to refit and re-plumb and all of the woodwork under the berth to re-instate, oh and the sails to hoist and rig. Got the main sheet sorted out..

The open-air disco over the road has been testing the sound system for the past hour but has now stopped. The lull before the storm I fear as it's Bank Holiday tomorrow so come 9 o'clock all hell will let loose I expect.'

I think this means things are progressing!

Last night when we spoke there was loud music and fireworks, so  don't suppose he got much sleep last night. Will report on the holding tank soon, there was a chance that it may have been delivered today.
