Being sociable

Water Buffalo at Bafra Burnu
We have had a very sociable weekend in the company of two other English couples, who we had previously met at a CA meeting. We arrived in Sinop on Saturday morning, and they arrived soon after, and we met up with them on Sunday for Coffee and then dinner. Sinop used to be famous for its prison, now closed down. We had a look around it and it must have been a horrible place to be incarcerated.
On Monday one boat left for the Ukraine and then we hired a car with Jo and Alan and went to a nature reserve for the day. We thought it would take about an hour to get there and we'd also be going to a town famous for 28 waterfalls, but it wasn't to be as it took about 2 hours to get to the nature reserve and we were by then ready for lunch.

Anyway the nature reserve was a treat, and we saw water buffalo, curlews, egrets, hawks, buzzards, herons and lots more besides. They have a visitor centre which shows live webcam views from each of the hides. The hides are a work of art in themselves.

This evening we are anchored are Yakakent en route to Samsun in a couple of days. This is a fairly peaceful anchorage, but there are two competing mosques nearby, each with different calls to prayer, and we are really looking forward to 5am. On Friday night we were in a small bay, which was one of the only places we've been without a mosque. That was the quietest night we've had so far!

This was the sunset in Yakakent this evening.
Night, night.
