Yalova

Yalova is a city on the Sea of Marmara that was devastated, along with parts of Istanbul, in an earthquake about 10 years ago. Now it is a thriving port with a wonderful market.

I've been stocking up today and wandering around and took some photos of the market.

Fruit and nut stall

Every type of olive you could ask for!
We now have about 50 cans of beer, lots of tonic water and a loaf of bread! I'm heading to shop in the market tomorrow.

People come in from the local villages and stock up on all sorts of provisions.

Latest on the tank is that the monitoring equipment is being fitted today. Tomorrow we put the boat back together and then head out Wednesday.

  1. The fruit and veg look wonderful, but how did you get the beer if there's no alcohol around?

  2. If you know where to look it's there. There's one supermarket selling it. I think the problem last year was due to it being Ramadan. We've stocked up, and should be leaving tomorrow!
